A DISCOVERY MAP® TO COMMUNICATE DIRECTION & VISION

The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) is the UK’s only chartered professional body dedicated to educating, developing and regulating actuaries based both in the UK and internationally. The IFoA regulates and represents over 30,000 members worldwide, overseeing their actuarial education at all stages of qualification and development throughout their careers. They set examinations, continuing professional development, professional codes and disciplinary standards for their members.

The process

We worked with The IFoA to define these objectives.

Following this, we ran a virtual workshop with the leadership team at the IFoA. This highly interactive, facilitated workshop, enabled us to curate and record the content of the Discovery Map®.

After the workshop, The IFoA provided feedback on the outputs which were integrated into updates.

Once the final Discovery Map® was signed off, a high resolution version was sent to the client to use in their communications processes.

The answer!

In partnership with The Big Picture People we helped The IFoA to create a bespoke Discovery Map® which communicated the reasons for the change, how employees could contribute and what would be involved.

The rich picture Discovery Map meant the IFoA could tackle the following objectives:

  • Remove the complexity which currently exists in terms of communicating what comes next

  • Identify where the IFoA is going

  • Identify what success looks like

  • Identify the ‘pot of gold’ at the end of the ‘rainbow’

“I had a session with the ELT yesterday about the Discovery Map. They all wanted to say thank you very much for producing such a great visual of our vision and helping us land where we have with it – they can’t wait to share it with the organisation.”
